The future is about to change.
Many people around the universe are about to change the fate that is connecting all of them, some of them for the better, others for the worse.
Here we have another special that is setting-up upcoming stories in some of the most important books that DC has and it offers interesting material at the very least.
First comes Tom King with a story that is preparing his upcoming arc on Batman about the wedding between Selina and Bruce which of course, is giving the Joker mixed emotions. Is actually a well-written segment with less of the usual King's awkward dialogue and strong moments which portray the Joker appropriately and terrifyingly. Clay Mann's artwork sells the story powerfully thanks to his detailed style that makes every scene worth checking out.
Brian Bendis continues his new Superman direction in the next story. I know I mentioned that I would have prefered if this sort of story was told on the Action Comics Special of this week but now I don't think since, just as I feared, there's nothing really special here. Bendis introduces a new character and a brand new status quo but is so forced to be different that it just feels off, not to mention that I'm not a fan of stuttering dialogue he gives to Clark which apparently has a reason behind but is still annoying. Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez' pencils are strong as ever though.
Finally, the prelude of the upcoming Justice League line appears written by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV and Joshua Williamson is here teasing all the new teams and giving the team member enough time to shine. Is decent overall, although a bit overwritten at times (which is classic from Snyder) but makes things interesting enough. Jorge Jimenez on art duties makes the whole fight scene more energetic.
Overall, not a bad preview for what is about to come for the most part. Hope the upcoming stories are even better.
