Some thoughts about Transformers #40

The battle for the supremacy of Cybertron continues.

Starscream is still manipulating others into believing that he's the right being for the leadership of their race and things are getting even more complicated now that he has a combiner in his side. However, both Optimus Prime and especially Prowl have other plans in mind.

Combiner Wars keeps its path with another successful installment

John Barber brings a new chapter where he focus on the different sides in this whole conflict from Cybertron to Caminus and how their people have different perspectives about how to handle this situation. The characterization is pretty strong with all the members of the cast like Starscream, Optimus, Windblade and Prowl playing an important role and even taking some surprising decisions over the course of the issue.

It's also necessary to mention Barber's ability to bring complicated pieces of continuity like the story in Spotlight: Mirage and actually making sense of it and incorporating it into the plot. Quite satisfying job.

Livio Ramondelli remains in art duties and his work is still pretty unique with a quite distinctive and cool-looking style.

Pretty good issue, hope the story continues to be as good in Windblade.
