Some thoughts about Convergence: Blue Beetle #1

The superheroes might have lost their powers but Blue Beetle is not going to let that stop him.

The current event is changing both Captain Atom and The Question since they're starting to fight between them. However, once that their powers return, they will have to join forces once again if they want to escape.

This was pretty charming overall.

Scott Lobdell delivers a story focusing on the original versions of the Charlton heroes like Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and The Question except that the writer takes some interesting choices with them and I would say that he goes into an almost Watchmen direction with the characterization. Adam has become more of a totalitarian, Vic has become much more mistrustful while Ted remains as hopeful and creative as ever.

The rest of the ideas work pretty nicely with other characters like the Mad Men and Doctor Spectrum being reimagined in interesting ways. It's also necessary to mention that this is a nice complement to Convergence: Booster Gold, you will know why once you read it.

Yishan Li is one of the biggest reasons why I liked this issue so much, his work is absolutely stunning and he manages to make every scene of the script even better thanks to his great storytelling.

Successful issue, can't wait for the next one.
