Some thoughts about World's Finest: Teen Titans #4

Can the Teen Titans get along?

Wally has decided to invite both Roy and Garth to his house so the latter can feel better about his relationship with Donna but Roy could cause a problem in the whole house.

Aside from a few little issues, I really dug this one.

Mark Waid offers a new installment where he explores the dynamic between the team. Is pretty great to see characters like Wally, Garth and Roy having the spotlight and showcasing how different they are from each other which makes their segments very entertaining to watch, there's even a pretty on-point scene where Roy offers his own insight on relationships and being yourself that feels very appropriate considering his history. There are even a few moments focusing on Mal Duncan becoming a new hero and once again, is all based on continuity which leads to a surprising scene at the end of the read.

There's a problem here though and is something I have concerning how Waid writes Wally's parents once again. For people who don't know, way back in the 80s William Messner-Loebs wrote Wally's parents as very flawed (especially Rudy) and yet very believable people who still cared about their son in their own unique ways. However, once that Waid started writing them in the 90s, he turned them into one-dimensional unlikable people who you just couldn't even bother to know more about. Here in this issue though, Waid turned them into generic "nice" parents with very little personality and it seems like Waid just has to go from an extreme to the other with them, is a shame that the actual multidimensional characters that Messner-Loebs created are gone.

Emanuela Lupacchino handles the art and is beautiful with expressive characters and a clean style that follows the story perfectly.

Fine read aside from the already mentioned nitpicks. Let's see how things go on.
