Some thoughts about World's Finest #20

Is time to return to one of the most catastrophic universes.

Superman has been trying to figure out what happened to David and they will lead him and Batman to an Earth were one of the most brutal antiheroes is about to be born.

Well, this was definitely coming and it makes sense that Mark Waid is tackling this.

The writer did a pretty solid job at setting-up the arrival to the Kingdom Come universe by making David a young version of Magog (Cable analog for DC) who was a very important character in the original story. Mind you, Waid revisiting such ideas is nothing new since he already did it many years ago during The Kingdom miniseries (which really wasn't as good) but fortunately he seems to have learned from some of those mistakes and is focusing more on how the characters react to this different reality and so far, it seems like is pretty interesting.

Superman criticizing the Superman from the Kingdom Come Earth because apparently he let his friends die and simply didn't do enough for this world is a pretty solid development and very fitting, especially considering this is a world of antiheroes. Plus, the whole dynamic about what they're going to do with David is very logical while their inevitable encounter is surprising enough but not so much considering who David actually is.

Dan Mora's artwork continues to be stellar thanks to his vibrant style and precise storytelling.

Good read, I hope things continue this way.
