Some thoughts about Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League: Green Arrow #1

Where is Oliver Queen?

Oliver and Dinah have reappered in different eras but no matter where they are, they are bound to find each other.

Ugh, I made two mistakes here.

First mistake was to buy a tie-in from an event that is already leaving me underwhelmed and have no reason to invest more time on it.

Second mistake was not realizing this was written by Stephanie Phillips whose overall work might be even more underwhelming than Dark Crisis.

Yeah, you can figure my opinion right now.

And is not like the content of the tie-in really contradicts any of my pre-conceived notions since Phillips does the very bare minimum to exploit this premise. First of all, she doesn't implement this title to actually explore a world without Green Arrow (which would have made this kinda compelling) as much as exploring the relationship and "strong love" between Oliver and Dinah (which automatically makes this a fail). Yeah, Phillips falls into the camp of looking at their relationship a big romantic love instead of the actual complex and borderline toxic dynamic they both had based on their history, worst of all is that Phillips can't even tell anything interesting about what she attempts to and instead puts them both in a by the numbers Robin Hood's scenario with lackluster villains (which don't even get a good use of Merlyn). Clayton Henry's artwork is decent at the very least and follows the script fine.

There's a second feature written by Dennis Culver with a more futuristic setting and sadly is not really good either since it might deliver an even more nauseating take on Ollie and Dinah's relationship. Nik Virella's artwork is seviceable overall.

Waste of time and money, what a letdown.
