Can Bruce find his own mask?
The next step on Bruce's training to become the greatest vigilante on the world leads to him to a new mentor that will teach him how to create a brand new entity, although Bruce might start doubting her methods.
This series continues the predictable, yet solid direction.
Chip Zdarsky opens a new chapter that heavily relies on the whole "mask" theme with is something that Batman stories have been playing basically since the very beginning. Sure, is an overused theme and I wish the series explored more creative and unique ideas but to be fair, Zdarsky knows to how to implement it correctly into his origin story by depicting on-point characterization and a solid characters around that.
Speaking of the characters, the new teacher introduced here creates a heavyhanded, yet compelling take on the masks angle while creating intriguing scenarios for Bruce and his friend to showcase their abilities to disguise themselves to reach their objectives (Mind you, Bruce and his friend seems to be developing a kind of relationship that also seem derivative considering everything that has been happening recently at DC Comics).
Carmine Di Giandomenico remains in art duties and his work is still great thanks to his detailed style that depicts every scene perfectly and he puts extra emphasis on the focus on the issue.
Decent read, hope next chapters are more inventive though.
