Some thoughts about Wonder Girl #2

The Amazons are gathering.

Yara's journey to Brazil is becoming more and more strange, especially once that people from Themiscyra are coming for her.

Continuing satisfactorily for the most part.

Joelle Jones offers a new installment where she explores more of this new setting. While Brazil might not be a particularly mythological place per se, the writer manages to create enough interesting creatures connected to it while also demonstrating how strong Yara is as a character and also showcasing different characters and scenarios over the course of the plot.

Mind you, this is not without problems. While I appreciate the multiple characters who appear here, particularly Amazons like Artemis and Cassie Sandsmark (who is also Wonder Girl here funnily enough), this makes the pacing a bit jumpy with a lot of things happening and not many natural transitions between them.

Jones' artwork remains stellar with beautiful characters and precise storytelling. The problems come with the involvement of Adriana Melo who is a good artist herself but the difference between styles doesn't help the erratic flow of the read.

Solid aside from some issues. Hope the next one doesn't take too long this time.
