Is this the end of Robin's journey?
Damian has returned to Lazarus Island to face Lord Death Man but he will soon realize that his grandmother will always be his biggest enemy.
Well, this series apparently has come to an end (Or at least I think so, I have been very busy with other stuff lately to pay attention) and to be honest, while this is a serviceable conclusion, I feel like it would have been better if it concluded earlier.
Joshua Williamson touches quite few of the themes that he has been developing over the course of his run including the new friendships that Damian has built and how that has made him growth as a person. The protagonist's different perspectives are handled appropriately and it was cool to see Damian's love for manga once again.
On the other hand, as a finale, this leaves a lot to be desired since is just an overly-quick and unsatisfying fight against Lord Death Man (a character who wasn't even that important in this book) while is setting-up a future encounter with Damian's grandmother. To be honest, I think this series should have ended with the end of the original tournament since that already gave Damian's closure, what happened after mostly dragged the story further than it should.
Roger Cruz remains in art duties and his work is still decent with expressive characters and clear storytelling.
Not bad but not great, the upcoming series might be good but I wish they would have delivered a better send-off for what used to be a pretty great title.
