Some thoughts about Lobo #1

The greatest mercenary of the universe is back.

Lobo finally got rid of the being who took his name but not even that could be enough to find peace so as usual, he will have to get rid of his frustation by doing what he does best: Killing.

The beginning of this new series focusing on one of the most popular DC's antiheroes, does it delivers?

I would say it kinda does but is not enough.

Cullen Bunn handles this project and he does a solid job at creating a story about this character in particular. First of all, he kills the previous Lobo which is something that has been teased for a while so I'm glad it finally happened. Plus, he explores a bit more of the current Lobo's past which most certainly will be further developed in the future.

However, there's nothing really that impressive here. It's a decently told story but one that doesn't really achieves anything that unique nor groundbreaking, there's no worldbuilding nor character progression, at least not yet. Hopefully they will solve this in the future.

Reilly Brown and while his art is serviceable, is not that appealing. He does a good enough job at telling story but his style is not really distinctive.

And I guess that's what I have to say about this issue in a few words. Is not that special. It's just decent but I hope they improve things over the course of this run.
