Wonder Woman's journey has come to an end.
Diana's life has changed a lot since the day she met Zola, so much that it almost feel like everything was part of a bigger plan. Now, Diana will need all the strenght he has gained over the course of her travels to defeat the First Born and save everyone she loves.
Well, we have an end for an era right here.
Since their arrival on the title, Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang have done their best to rebuild the whole concept of Wonder Woman as well as her direction by making her much more mystical-oriented than before as well as giving the title a kind of style that is only seen in titles from the Vertigo line which was received with great acclaim. So do they manage to create a satisfactory conclusion for their legendary run?
Well, is satisfactory, not really mindblowing, but satisfactory indeed.
The writing is pretty much what you would expect from Azzarello's writing, it contains a lot of puns and jokes based on the situation and while those kind of things might get a bit overused at points, they still present an interesting choice.
The battle against the First Born goes the way that you would expect and the confrontation between Diana and him gives closure to their relationship.
There's a twist here, something happens to one of these characters and I have mixed thoughts about it because I feel like it came out of nowhere, aside from a mention in the Secret Origins story from this same month, but is still a shocking surprise.
Cliff Chiang's artwork is absolutely stunning. He has managed to define Wonder Woman's look for a new generation and I frankly don't know how anyone will be able to replace him but I wish them the best of lucks.
Good issue, some issues with it but it still delivers a good ending.
