Some thoughts about Sinestro #1

The man who lost everything is back to see if he can retrieve it.

Sinestro has given up all of this responsibilities after the destruction of his planet Korugar and the death of his people, including his own Yellow Corps. However, thanks to the visions of a deranged Lyssa Drak, keeper of the words of Parallax, Sinestro has realized that there are still some surviving members of his race and to save them he will need the help of his army once again, no matter if they're willing to accept him or not.

The beginning of this new series based on the villain/antihero who gained a great popularity thanks to Geoff Johns' run in Green Lantern. Author Cullen Bunn, who is currently handling a similar title in Magneto, is the one responsible for the reigns of the character, who does he compare to what came before?

I think it's a pretty satisfactory opening issue so far. Bunn addresses several of the plot-points that have been created over the course of Johns' run, even the ones introduced by the one-shot story from DC's Villains Month. The characterization is pretty on-point based on what was previously established, not only about Sinestro but also about the rest of his Corps including Lyssa Drak, Arkillo and another surprising character who appeared here.

Speaking of which, that last page reveal won't make Sinestro's life any easier.

Dale Eaglesham provides the artwork and it's simply gorgeous. His characters are beautiful, his storytelling techniques are great, the way he depict event is quite clear and makes Bunn's script much stronger. It's fantastic to have him on board.

This was a pretty good beginning for this series and I hope that the following issues become even better.
