Some thoughts about Batwoman Annual #1

The final conflict between Batwoman, Batman and Director Bones is finally here.

Both Batwoman and Batman have been manipulated into fighting each other while Bones is quickly losing his mind in his obsession with Jacob Kane and it's willing to take everybody including the whole D.E.O. with him. Could Kate be able to save her family from him?

This is the long-awaited conclusion of the ongoing arc started by J.H. Williams III and Haden Blackman this time handled by current Batwoman writer Marc Andreyko and I'm happy to say that he succeeds at delivering a satisfying ending for this anticipated story.

Andreyko is able to solve a lot of loose threads that were left behind when Williams/Blackman left the series and he does it in a pretty convincing way. All the characters are on-point, they're portrayed in the same vein as they were under the previous authors and they receive interesting developments based on the events that happened under past issues. Andreyko definitely did his homework here at investigating the whole history of these characters.

Another good point that I need to mention is that this Annual felt almost like an event book where several big turning points happening and all conluding in a great fight scene to save everyone. It was pretty well executed.

Former Batwoman artist Trevor McCarthy is back to tell this story and he does a wonderful job in his segments by delivering a similar style as J.H. Williams III. He's accompanied by artist Moritat who also does a pretty solid job on his sections.

A quite saitsfying ending for this story and one of the strongest Batwoman issues in a while.
