Some thoughts about Wonder Woman #2

What was the beginning for Wonder Woman?

Diana had a pretty fulfilling life in Themyscira. However, she always wondered what was beyond its coasts and is about to find out once that an airplane from men's world arrives.

Here we have the retelling of Wonder Woman's origins handle by none other than Greg Rucka. This is part of the writer's idea of focusing the bi-weekly format of the book on two stories, one suited in the present and the other in the past. How does this one fare?

Pretty solidly I would say.

For one, Rucka uses this opportunity to explore more about Diana's world in Themyscira along with her relationships with the rest of its people. The characterization works nicely with the writer exploring some classic aspects of her personality like her rebellious and adventurous nature as well as creating some bonds with people around her that people always suspected.

The story is also centered on Steve Trevor and his arrival to the island. Steve's personality actually contrasts with Diana's showing that they have a lot in common without having even met and of course, it comes to their logical first encounter.

Nicola Scott handles the artwork and is stunning with beautiful and expressive characters and on-point storytelling skill.

Quite enjoyable, hope the next one offers even more of that.
